What I liked most about playing Pokemon Go was that I logged almost 5,000 measures while playing. Yes, folks do get a substantial amount of exercise while playing. But, people are still glued to their telephones, obsessively staring at their telephone screen trying to find the next Pokemon.

For the past week or so, all I 've seen on social media websites are people posting about playing Pokemon Go. So many people have been saying, "This is the game I Have been waiting for my entire life," or "I used to play Pokemon as a kid and now I get to play it as a twenty-year-old who has nothing better to do on a Tuesday night," or "It Is lots of pleasure and a great means to get out of the house." As the keen writer, I am, I needed to compose an article about it. But of course, that would mean I'd need to play. I didn't need to play this Pokemon game. I've never once in my life had the desire to play anything that has to do with Pokemon. For the sake of this post, however, I chucked all of those thoughts away and walked around for an hour and a half trying to figure out this Pokemon craze.

The Pokemon card game is really popular with kids. You may not think that that has anything at all to do with robots, but if you let your logic go a little 'fuzzy' I think we can see robotic concepts in all life- that in fact machines were meant to replace things humans do and robot 'humanizes' the machine even more because of broader parameters. Likewise, we get the stats on a Pokemon, and it is rather like a robot. But that's not so in the imagination. In the imagination it's something living. And if we do something to it like ensure it is shiny (shiny daikon cards), it becomes even more valuable and living. But the bottom line truth to all computer games is they are robots. The question is this then: in a networking game like Second Life are you a robot?

It only doesn't make lots of sense to me how intense folks got when I played. It is nearly like the hundreds of folks in downtown Springfield, Missouri, had seen a tweet saying, "There're a thousand dollars someplace downtown, go find it!" or "Beyonce is in downtown Springfield. Go locate her!" Because all of a sudden, I'd see a group of four teenaged boys running down the road, telephones in hand. Obviously, no. Those boys weren't after cash or Beyonce. They were not after anything real, anything with a genuine benefit or outcome, for that matter.

If the fantasy behind a game is powerful enough, it can bring about spinoffs. Conversely, something that's popular like Ultraman can cause a game. But games generally remain games and playthings stay playthings. Pokemon has seen really good spinoff (though it is not taking the world by storm) because of its intriguing concept. This is where the robot is left behind, and the human imagination begins to reach out and explore.

I started by walking around downtown Springfield, Missouri, with a pal. My friend is really into Pokemon Go. He has spent the last week walking around parks and sites throughout the city attempting to get unfamiliar virtual creatures. He attempted to teach me how.

Geeks design and fight their 'bots' with an extremely powerful ego: they designed the robot; they are matching their skill against their opponent's. When a assumption, or narrative, is put into a game that all changes. So it becomes a fantasy world in which the object is really to get the greatest Pokemon that one can use it 'feature' to the best of one's ability. When losing, one can nearly believe the Pokemon let him down, was not powerful enough, or whatever. He may blame himself partially, but not totally.

Pokemon fans through the world may shun me, but my decision is that I still don't understand the craze. I don't comprehend how folks don't get bored with it after a few minutes and how they get so enthusiastic about funny-looking characters on an app. I do not comprehend why anyone would spend time on something stupid like Pokemon Go. That said, it is not my place to tell the world to stop doing what they love. If you need to play, then play.

All I grasped in the hour and a half of playing is that you walk around aimlessly as your avatar on the Pokemon Go app walks to PokeStops, where you can potentially catch a Pokemon. If a Pokemon appears, you must throw a virtual Poke Ball at it to get it. Then you certainly walk and walk and walk some more to capture more Pokemon. Seemingly, you sometimes can snitch Pokemon from others and have battles with other users as well. That component is over my head.

Not many are aware of this possibly (or perhaps you are!) but almost every computer game we play is an use of robotic software technology. That's, the icons you see, and play are application settings with set parameters. It cannot go beyond those parameters just because that is the limitation of its programming. Very often, in fact, 'updating' will not include adding a brand new function to an existing entity, but rather just replacing it in its entirety and downloading its memory from the game's database.

Unlike other Pokémon games, capturing doesn't come down to strategically squaring off one Pokémon versus another. That's since Pokémon fights are finger swipe-versus-monster as you swipe a Poké Ball towards a Pokémon.
