What I liked most about playing Pokemon Go was that I logged nearly 5,000 measures while playing. Yes, folks do get a significant amount of exercise while playing. But, people continue to be glued to their phones, obsessively staring at their phone display trying to find the next Pokemon.
For the previous week or so, all I've seen on social media websites are folks posting about playing Pokemon Go. As the keen writer, I am, I wanted to write an article about it. But of course, that would mean I 'd have to play. I didn't need to play this Pokemon game. I have never once in my life had the want to play anything that's to do with Pokemon. For the benefit of this article, however, I chucked all of those notions aside and walked around for an hour and a half trying to figure out this Pokemon craze.
The Pokemon card game is very popular with kids. So we can speak of a baseball player as a robot (pitches this rapid, had this many hits, weighs this much, is this tall, etc.) and trade cards. Likewise, we get the stats on a Pokemon, and it's rather like a robot. But that's not so in the imagination. In the imagination it is something living. And if we do something to it like make it shiny (glossy daikon cards), it becomes even more valuable and alive. But the bottom line truth to all computer games is that they are robots. Will Pokemon ever become real?
It just doesn't make lots of sense to me how intense folks got when I played. Go find her!" Because all of a sudden, I Had see a group of four adolescent boys running down the street, phones in hand. Obviously, no. Those boys weren't after cash or Beyonce. They were not after anything concrete, anything with a genuine reward or outcome, for that matter.
If the dream behind a game is powerful enough, it can result in spinoffs. Conversely, something that's popular like Ultraman can result in a game. But games usually remain games and playthings stay toys. Pokemon has seen quite great spinoff (though it's not taking the world by storm) because of its interesting concept. This is where the robot is left behind, and the human imagination begins to reach out and explore.
I began by walking around downtown Springfield, Missouri, with a buddy. My buddy is quite into Pokemon Go. He's spent the last week walking around parks and sites throughout the city trying to capture unfamiliar virtual creatures. He attempted to teach me how.
The original Pokemon game ported to Game Boy as 'Pocket Monsters' was a pretty simple and standard 'fighting bot' game that became popular. Geeks design and fight their 'bots' with a very powerful egotism: they designed the robot; they're matching their skill against their opponent's. When a premise, or story, is place into a game that all changes. So it becomes a fantasy world where the item is really to obtain the greatest Pokemon that one can use it 'feature' to the best of one's ability. When losing, one can nearly believe the Pokemon let him down, was not strong enough, or whatever. He may blame himself partly, but not fully.
Pokemon enthusiasts throughout the world may shun me, but my judgment is that I still do not understand the craze. I do not comprehend how people do not get bored with it after a few minutes and how they get so enthusiastic about comical-looking characters on an app. I don't comprehend why anyone would spend time on something foolish like Pokemon Go. That being said, it is not my place to tell the world to quit doing what they love. If you need to play, then play.
All I grasped in the hour and a half of playing is that you walk around aimlessly as your avatar on the Pokemon Go app walks to PokeStops, where you could possibly catch a Pokemon. If a Pokemon appears, you need to throw a virtual Poke Ball at it to capture it. Then you certainly walk and walk and walk some more to catch more Pokemon. Apparently, you occasionally can steal Pokemon from other people and have conflicts with other users also. That component is over my head.
Not many are conscious of this perhaps (or perhaps you're!) but almost every computer game we play is an use of robotic applications technology. That is, the icons you see, and maneuver are software settings with set parameters. It cannot go beyond those parameters only because that is the constraint of its programming. Very often, in fact, 'upgrading' doesn't involve adding a brand new function to an existing thing, but rather simply replacing it in its entirety and downloading its memory from the game's database.
Unlike other Pokémon games, catching doesn't come down to strategically squaring off one Pokémon versus another. That's due to the fact that Pokémon fights are finger swipe-versus-monster as you swipe a Poké Ball towards a Pokémon. We're delighted to share our pointers with you on how to discover and catch Pokémon for your growing Pokémon Go collection.
