In Go, Pokemon has only two moves, a regular move, and a special move. Unlike in other games in the set, a Pokemon's moves can not be changed, and are assigned randomly. The moves will also alter randomly again upon progression.
When Razz Berries are fed to wild Pokemon, they are less likely to run away and escape Pokeballs. Lure Modules are like incense but more potent and can be attached to PokeStops for half an hour, making PokeStops great spots to find Pokemon.
So a level 5 gym can have five distinct Defending Pokemon.
Gyms in the Pokemon universe are partially about training, but mostly about cred.
At level 9, players start getting Blessed Eggs. Using a Lucky Egg doubles players' experience points within a 30-minute window. At level 12, they'll amass the more powerful Great Balls, which increase the likelihood of getting a crazy Pokemon. T level 20, they start getting the even more effective Ultra Balls.
If your aim is to attack and take over a gym, you'll have to reduce its stature to zero. You'll first need to take out all of the Pokemon defending the gym. But that is just the start, as this doesn't necessarily give the gym over to you; it simply reduces its prestige degree. You'll have to keep getting the better of the entire gym until its prestige gets all the way to zero, at which point the gym will become grey, and you will be able to move in.
Each gym is controlled by one of these three teams. Because it is still so early in Pokemon Go, there's lots of turnover in gym management, especially in densely inhabited areas, so do not worry too much about selecting the "best" team in your place. But if other massive online games are any guide, dominant political powers will eventually appear.
Pokestops are indicated on the game's map with a floating blue cube. Patting them will reveal more details about the landmark, including a photo. If the app looks you're close enough, swipe the picture of the landmark to whirl it, and it will spit out three or more items.
When you enter a gym for the first time, you'll be asked to swear allegiance to a team, each signified by a colour and a characteristic: Yellowish (Instinct), Azure (Mystic), and Red (Valor). Selecting a particular team doesn't seem to make any difference to your individual character, but that could change in future versions of the game.
At level 5, players start accumulating Potions, Revive, and Incense. Potions and Restore both aid injured Pokemon. Renovate brings Pokemon that has fainted back to life, while Potions heal poor Pokemon by raising their HP. Incense is used to lure wild Pokemon out.
The damage is merely a number that tells you how much hurt it puts on your rivals. Higher energy demands mean a specific move will take more to prepare. The type is where more strategy is included, as some Pokemon can balance weaknesses of their type with advantages inside their moves.
Pokemon Go relies on another popular Niantic game called Ingress. Both names encourage players to investigate the world around them, rewarding them with virtual items when they reach real-life landmarks highlighted by the app. In Ingress, these stages of interests are called portal sites; in Pokemon Go, they are called Pokestops. Niantic used a small subset of the place data from Ingress as the basis for Pokestops in Pokemon Go.
When determining which Pokemon is worth your time and effort to train, make sure it's the moves you want first. It's possible for you to consult a complete move list (like this one) to see which goes each Pokemon is capable of learning, in order to determine which is best for your squad. Additionally, keep in mind that you will need a core fighting team of merely six Pokemon---the most you can send out against enemies.
Around the Pokemon Go map, you will see, also the small PokeStops, large constructions. These are gyms, and you can access them once you get to level five.
The type of a move doesn't always correspond to that of its Pokemon. A Dark Pokemon, for instance, might be able to perform a Psychic-type move. A dragon might be able to do both Fire and Flying moves. And so forth. As you build your team, consult a list of Pokemon types (like this one) and be sure you are not greatly vulnerable to any one kind and have a favorable matchup against any possible type. (There are also more out there strategies like using only Standard-type Pokemon, which have just one susceptibility, but we'll leave that aside for now.)
For players who are just getting started, most of the items available at PokeStops are Pokeballs and the occasional egg. Eggs, when put in an egg incubator, will hatch into Pokemon after players have traveled a certain space. All players start with one egg incubator, and an added one can be bought with PokeCoins.
Unlike other Pokémon games, capturing doesn't come down to tactically squaring off one Pokémon versus another. That's since Pokémon battles are finger swipe-versus-monster as you swipe a Poké Ball toward a Pokémon. We're happy to share our suggestions with you on how to capture and find Pokémon for your growing Pokémon Go collection.
